PRE-CONFIGURED WEB GUIDES SIMPLIFY
INSTALLATION AND OPERATION

D-MAX Series Web Guiding Systems from Fife are pre-engineered with modular components that are easy to install, operate and maintain

Oklahoma City, OK. – Fife Corporation, a leader in web guiding and inspection, announced a new series of guiding systems at CMM 2005. D-MAX Series Web Guiding Systems are pre-configured and pre-engineered to provide out-of-the-box installation and an intuitive interface, reducing the time needed for installation and the learning curve associated with new guiding equipment.

Converters can save time during the installation with an integrated design that includes all of the components necessary for web guiding; sensors, guide structure, controller and operator interface are assembled in the factory and shipped to the customer ready for installation. Converters simply bolt the system in, connect the power and run.

D-MAX Series Web Guiding Systems are pre-engineered as a modular system, or feature-rich stand-alone components that can be used to update an existing application. A user-friendly operator interface displays plain text, guiding nomenclature or symbols, eliminating confusion. An optional network version allows multiple guides to be controlled from a single operator interface or HMI, eliminating the need for multiple (input stations), saving money and simplifying an operation.

The D-MAX controller, used to control the guide actions, is conveniently mounted within the guide structure and is easily removed for maintenance, troubleshooting or replacement if necessary, with the web in place. This controller can also be mounted remotely in applications where multiple guides are controlled at once. The D-MAX Controller is backwards compatible to other Fife Web Guide Controllers.

“With D-MAX, we’ve found a way to give the customer everything they’ve asked for; expert configuration, easy installation and simplified operation,” said Ron Suenram, Product Manager for Fife. “The ultimate goal is to make the web guide invisible, so the operator never has to interact with it.”

Fife Corporation introduced web guiding technology to the industry in 1939. Today, along with MAGPOWR (tension control) and Tidland (slitting and winding), they are part of a family of companies that represent technology leadership and innovation to converters, packaging facilities, paper mills, and all applications in between. Maxcess International is also spearheading online training through their ‘TechTips’ e-seminars and training modules available at www.fife.com/techtips
